Here's a list of my 25 favorite albums of the year.
what did you guys really like this year?
I'm going to put together a similar list of my favorite songs of the year later this week. I'll shoot you guys a link to that when it's done.

that's a pretty good list. and i for one like sus don't care for them much. i was very happy w/ beirut, arcade, explosions, kevin drew, radiohead and besnard lakes this year. i didn't care for the new iron and wine too much. i personally would have also had animal collective, sunset rubdown and feist on the list. and possibly akron/family. only having listened to then new wu and ghost a couple times each they seem mediocre. actually once you can get past the new wu not sounding like wu album it's good. white stripes album sucked. so did modest mouse. hmmmm. what else what else. kanye can derelick my balls. aesop rock was okay. i liked a-trak's thing a lot. there you have it 2007 eat one.
no worries. I've mellowed out some in my old age. I like you list, too.
Do you guys know this band Miracle Fortress? i'm so out of the loop these days I don't know if this band is just some friends of my friends and my friends really like them or if it's bigger than that. Anyway, a friend of mine gave me a burnt cd and I like it a lot. It reminds me of Caribou mixed with the Beach Boys.

i love that menomena as well. and sun rub was great.
crazy that craig thompson / menomena are nominated for a fuckin grammy
I still can't get too excited about sunset rubdown for some reason, but I loved the Handsome Furs album. Yeah it is crazy about the Grammy nomination. Have any of you seen Menomena live before? Definitely worth checking out. The Moog footpedal piano thing that the one guy has is so cool. They pull the songs off amazingly well live.

yeah those kids dancing at the end of that video is the most goddamn adorable thing ever. If you watch that and dont smile when those kids dance its all over for you. La Blogoteque is one of the best websites in the world.
nice list, quite some things i missed completely.
i liked:
andrew bird
animal collective
beirut
okkervil river
panda bear
sunset rubdown
radiohead
btw, isn't LCD soundsystem just boring?
yes
Here's my take on LCD (obv. they were not on my list), That album has 3 unbelievably fantastic songs on it (All My Friends, Someone Great, and New York I Love You) but I think I've only listened to the whole thing through maybe 3 times total. It just isn't a great album. I love love love those three songs but the rest is just meh as hell to me. I don't think the merits of a few great songs can make an album great. A great album is FULL of great songs.
i sort of agree with you, and i am certainly more of an album person than a song person.
but if you look back at some of the supposedly best albums ever, some of them really only had a few good songs. but those songs were amazing and kind of groundbreaking. i don't know if you can say that about the lcd soundsystem album, but 'all my friends' is definitely one of the best songs i've ever heard...
Yeah, but the "supposed" best albums of all time definitely aren't my favorite albums of all time. To me if there are skippers then the record isn't all that great. There are occasions where the greatness of 80-90% of an album can make up for the 10-20% that isn't really spectacular, but any more than that and its just a collection of songs. As for All Of My Friends, I agree with you. It's definitely more than just a great song. It's going to be a post quarter life, pre middle life anthem for a lot of people for a long time. The lyrical content reminds me a lot of the Soundteam song "Handful of Billions". It's about growing older and playing music and life and shit. It was the last song on their debut record and they broke up without releasing anything else. Weirdly forecasted their demise.
You guys know I don't pay attention much these days, so I went to pfork's top singles list and tried out a few of the top 20 snogs. I was underwhelmed, especially with lcd soundsystem. TWO songs in the top 10? bullshit.
the only new thing to me that I enjoyed was jens lekman. overall, though, i remembered why i stopped paying attention to new shit.
grump grump grump.
really you sound like my grandpa, sus
your grandpa checks out pfork? that's cool
yeah, he's really into franz ferdinand.
hahahahah elle oh elle i'm rofling so hard right now... remember when you liked franz ferdinand and you even changed your signon to say franzman5k... hahahahahahahahha
sadly i don't think that happened.. i still like that song "take me out" tho
btw "rolfing so hard right now" is my new thing. you guys are free to use it. elle oh elle is out the door and rolfing so hard is so hot i'd burn myself if i touched it. merry christmas.
