Do you folks watch the Wire?
It's become clear to me that I won't be able to get on with parts of my life that have to do with real things until the Wire ends. Which is fine cuz there isn't much life there to occupy my non-Wire time but it's getting pretty manic gross, the obsession combined with 25cm of snow every week for basically the whole winter. I watched episode 5 of season 5 last night and then basically watched my torrent download of episode 6 until it was done, and then watched that and went to bed. And then at work I mostly look up reactions and discussions and youtubes of the best moments which has gotten me into the trouble of knowing all these things I wish I didn't know. I mean who'd have thunk there'd be videos on youtube of shit from a season that just ended like a few days ago. And it's all stuff from the 4 episodes I haven't seen yet, there's like nothing on youtube from the ones I have. It's different than season 4 for me though, those were so good I usually needed a day or two to digest what happened before watching the next episode. A lot of questionable shit is happening in season 5 and now that I know what's going to happen death-wise I feel like I won't be able to do anything until I get to the end. Today I was reading a stillepost thread on it and someone posted a fucking GIF of how this one arc ends, basically. I wanted to die, and I think I'll feel this way until I watch the last episode.
Anyways, season 5 so far aside, best show ever.*
* I've never watched a full season of the Sopranos.

I read down to the part when you said you were in season 5 -- I've only just finished 4 and I can't have any spoilers!
but yeah, it rules me hard.
wire?
wtf are you guys even talking about
i don't need anything else
please don't tempt me
i can barely give myself creative time anymore with the
pornography, alcohol, lost, 30 rock, netflix, , cooking all meals, keeping house clean, spades, chess, pet tortoise, looking to adopt a puppy, girlfriend to take care of, and a son, keeping up with shitty indie bands that are way overrated, betting on dogs, playing poker, watching anything just because it's in hd, looking at notcot, fucking with nigerian scam, calling my grandmother and mother, reading anime, playing yu gi oh, golfing. . .
and don't tell my girlfriend about this show either cuz then i'm definitely watching it.... okay... okay..
dude. you need to watch this. it's better than all of that you just typed (except call your moms).
nothings better than alcohol and pornography...
thank you hipie. at least someone has my back. shit.
sus do you remember how you felt after the season 4 finale? I walked around in a daze for at least a day after, like just reeling. it was fucking devastating, and if a how are you conversation at work went longer than three vollies back and forth I would end up having to say something about the wire and how bad it was affecting me. the Randy part, dear god...
and i wouldn't dream of coming close to spoiling, what with all the spoiling I've endured while trying to get deal with my daytime withdrawal. season 5 has a lot of work to do to be anything but ridiculous so basically I'm feeling like I got bugs crawling over me.
everyone needs to watch this. I've had last week's Lost downloaded for a bunch of days but I can't even watch network shit after watching the Wire. I think that episode "Eggtown" was my last straw for that show. An entire hour of delaying who the stupid baby is and then the answer to this decoy question becomes the only reason you're watching this shit but you know it's going to be, and it is, "answered" in the last frame in a way that satisfies nothing and just makes more questions that will be dealt with via another decoy question a few weeks down the road. These last two seasons have been like that movie contact cut up and rationed over 15 weeks.
i feel like i should watch a couple seasons of that show all at once. everyone says it's really good. but they say that about heroes too...
i can't trust anyone's opinions. unless you were to say.. "the wire and the sopranos are the only tv shows worth watching".. then i'd think the wire might be good...
yeah what if you guys are hyping it up too much for me... then it turns out mediocre... like superbad... that was sooooooo overhyped... i mean veiny penis drawings are cool but that's about it...
yeah, season 4 really got to me. those kids! and marlo! and chris! and bubbles! on man..
I've heard the criticisms about season 5, but I'll still watch it. I don't care if it's not as good.
and to you doubters -- fine, don't watch THE BEST SHIT EVER. It's your choice.
well most of the stuff i read about the Wire either calls it the best TV show ever or best TV show ever besides Sopranos. I realize I'm probably only strengthening that resolve to not watch especially since I think season 4 is the payoff to watching 3 seasons that are outstanding on their own but you'd need to watch that far. All the seasons are really different too.
Hey sus I was reading the HBO character list at work today and Randy's last name is Wagstaff. Method Man's real name in the show is Calvin Wagstaff. Weird eh
well i don't have cable / hbo or whatever channel broadcasts it, so i added season 1 to my netflix qeue. my opinion is on the way! after i've seen hotel rwanda, the aristocrats, citizen kane, the princess bride, manhattan, death at a funeral, it happened one night, life is beautiful, 3:10 to yuma, no country for old men, the tiger and the snow, the darjeeling limited, the science of sleep, and eastern promises. if any of those aren't worthwhile let me know.
you haven't already seen the princess bride is my first question? hotel rwanda (this will piss some people off) was boring! i get it but i don't really fucking care is the god's honest truth. and the science of sleep wasn't that great. it was a good concept but fizzled. eternal sunshine was better. i'm getting a puppy tomorrow... more to come...
move darjeeling limited to the top of your queue.. then no country... then 3 10 to yuma
i've actually never seen princess bride, manhattan or citizen kane, and added them after going over one of those top100 lists. i'm sure there are plenty more 'classics' that i haven't seen yet.
i'd move stuff up to the front but if i start doing that i'll probably never see anything i'm not certain about. also i recently saw the life aquatic, and wouldn't mind a break from wes andersen.
before you watch darjeeling limited, go to itunes store and there's a free download for hotel chevalier, which is the prelude to the movie, it's only about 10 minutes long or so, paying attention to some of the lil details in that will shine through when you watch the movie and you get to see natalie portman's ass, which is cute at first but then another angle portrays her as having the body of a 12 year old boy, my son is almost 12, so it is ruined now.
